Malbork is inseparable from Malbork Castle, the former seat of the Teutonic Order and the largest brick castle complex in Europe, listed by UNESCO. The fortress sits on the Nogat, a branch of the Vistula, with high walls, inner wards, and a museum of amber and medieval rooms.
The small town around it is a typical day-trip from Gdańsk: castle, river views, and a compact centre. In summer the castle hosts night tours and events; in winter the brick mass still dominates the skyline. Most visitors come for the fortress and leave the same day.
