Bytów is a Kashubian-Pomeranian town around a Teutonic castle that now holds a hotel and museum. Lakes and forest sit just outside the centre; the castle courtyard is the one urban set-piece.
It is a stop for castle-and-lakeland rather than a full city break. Kashubian identity shows in the surroundings more than in a long old-town trail. From Gdańsk it is an inland transfer into the Bytów lake district.
