Hel sits at the very tip of the Hel Peninsula, a thin spit of dunes and pine forest between the Bay of Gdańsk and the open Baltic. The town is known for the seal sanctuary (fokarium), the lighthouse, and a long sandy beach that fills up in summer. You can walk the harbour, follow the coastal path towards Jurata, and look back at the bay from the headland.
Fishing cottages, ferry traffic, and a slower pace set it apart from Sopot or Gdynia. It is a classic day trip or weekend from the Tri-City when you want the end of the road rather than another city square.
