Iława stands on Jeziorak, often called Poland's longest lake, in the Iława Lake District. Sailing, lake beaches, and boat traffic in summer are the point; the town is a small harbour gateway rather than a monument city. Forests and water start at the edge of town.
It is a Masurian-style stop south-east of Gdańsk, without the fame of Mikołajki. A transfer makes sense if the lake is the destination, not a list of churches.
