Ostróda is a Masurian lakeland town on the Elbląg Canal, with water on several sides and a ruined Teutonic castle by the lake. In season, canal boats and lake cruises are the reason to come; the town itself is small and walkable.
Forests and water define the stay more than museums. It sits on the way between Pomerania and the deeper Masurian lakes. From Gdańsk it is a natural first Masurian stop.
