Szczecin is a large port on the Oder, close to the German border, with a different scale from the Tri-City. Wały Chrobrego, the terrace above the river, and the Pomeranian Dukes' Castle are the two views everyone takes.
The centre has reconstructed tenements, parks, and a harbour that still works. It feels more like a regional capital than a resort. From Gdańsk the drive is a cross-Pomerania run toward the west and Berlin.
